British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
