Letitia James Confronts Criminal Bank Fraud Charges
A federal grand jury brought charges against Letitia James over allegations of financial misconduct on Thursday, according to someone with knowledge of the case.
Lindsey Halligan directly submitted the charges before the judicial panel this Thursday, as reported.
US attorneys do not typically address such panels.
Halligan was installed as US attorney the previous month after Donald Trump became frustrated over the speed of inquiries against his rivals.
This step is the president’s latest effort to leverage the Department of Justice to target political rivals.
It comes 14 days following charges were filed against James Comey.
Long-serving lawyers wrote a document for that matter outlining the reasons charges lacked merit.
Comey entered a not guilty plea this past Wednesday.
