Miami put up eighty-six first-half points versus the Memphis Grizzlies

Miami Heat claimed a crushing 146 to 114 victory against the Grizzlies in their initial NBA match after player Terry Rozier was arrested for alleged unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also detained in connection with a broad FBI investigation into illegal gambling. Both men contest the claims.

But, the Miami team were not distracted as they scored 86 opening half scores to lead Memphis by 39 at halftime, the biggest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year existence.

Bam Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four points and later stated Rozier had the team's full backing.

"Our thoughts are with him and our care for him as he goes through this."

Portland also won their first game since the detentions, with Brazil-born Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Billups' non-attendance and leading the team to a convincing 139-119 win against the Golden State Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Billups and how he coached," Tiago remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his family but we have a job to do."

League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and supporters than the fairness of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner further said an NBA investigation into the player's conduct in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he participated for the Hornets against the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.

"We investigated the matter and were open about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they revealed yesterday was an charge.

"And two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and investigating."
