The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run since the Brady period as they beat division rivals the Jets by 13 points in professional football

First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019

Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes

The win extends the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the Jets' first possession

But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to make it 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields threw to Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots closed out the victory
