Unveiling an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered plenty of entertaining independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a hero that is truly a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is simple: press a jump control. In 150 stages, battle boss fights and access a store to buy skins for your fecal avatar.
Execute your movements carefully, since one wrong move requires restarting the level. Bounce using bubbles to propel the poop upward, traverse crumbling surfaces, and activate triggers to unlock hidden paths. Gather currency for buying challenging game content in which gameplay intensifies.
In terms of design, the demo boasts eye-catching level designs and an amazing soundtrack. The simple graphics with moving basic polygons evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.
Even though hard to recall previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, video games often included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create explosives from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is ready now on Steam, with the final release set to arrive on PC on November 19.
